Glorified God by holy living Psalm 135:12-21

The only living God desires for His people to be a thankful and praising people. Should children of God worship idols? (vv.15-18). Why? Anything that takes the place of God in our lives is idol. It can be silver, gold or our possessions, our work, our pleasure, our career, relationship or anything. We should worship God and glorified Him not only with our lips but with our whole lives copying Jesus Christ goodness, love and His truth. We must offer our bodies  as living  sacrifice  holy  and pleasing to God. This is  our  spiritual act  of service or  worship. (Rom.12:1).

Prayer for the  Day:  Lord  Jesus  Help me to  present  my life  to you  as  holy  and  acceptable  at all  times. So that as we enter into 2011 things shall be well with me and my entire family.

Be grateful to God Psalm135:1-11

The Lord is good to everyone. From today's passage, can you mention the reason why God is to be praised (vv.1-5). In different ways God's goodness and greatness  can be seen  and experienced. How? The Lord is charged both in the affairs of the world and in the lives of His children (v.5-11). The has chosen Christians to Himself that they might be unto Him for a name of praise. if we do not praise Him for this favour we are the most unworthy and ungrateful of all people. Unbelievers can not praise God acceptable. So praise God continually and every time of your life. Praise the Lord for the is good sing praise to His name for it is pleasant. This is what we need to do at all times.

Prayer for the Day: Lord Jesus  I pray  that you help me praise you with all my  life  without  ending  in Jesus  name.

Do not allowed yourself to be deceived 1Corinthians 6:9,15,33

Many times  young people  are  deceived  into  believing  that  even  if  they break  fellowship  with  Christ and live anyhow or  immorality and in evil their salvation and inheritance in God's kingdom will still be intact. Anybody who is habitually sinning is spiritually dead. Nobody can live for immoral gratification and still inherit the kingdom of God (Rom 6:16). It is no secret that all who are wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God. Those who claim to be born-again, Holy Spirit-filled tongue-talking, heaven-going while at the same time consciously sowing to please their sinful nature have missed it all. it is natural to reap what we sow(Gal 6:7). Be warned, no one can share in the salvation and the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ without turning his back on all the worldly  pleasures  that draw a person's heart from Christ and His word.

Prayer for the Day: Lord Jesus please help me not to follow the deception of the world.

Live selflessly 1Corinthians 9:13-27

There are different motives for taking up spiritual responsibilities. Paul in this passage continues to explain his selfless commitment to the call of Christ to preach the Gospel. He sees preaching the Good News as a sacred trust from God for which he seeks no other payment other than the blessing of being an instrument of God  for converting  souls to  Christ.  His  reward  or  blessing  is  the joy  of  sharing  the  good news  with others.  His  hope is  to  win  the  prize.  Are you  also  doing  all  that  you  can  to win  the  prize  that  has  been  reserved  for  you? His  fear  is  not  to  be  disqualified.  What is  that  which gives you joy? Do you derive joy and satisfaction from leading sinners to Christ? If not then start it now!

Prayer for the Day: Lord Jesus may you grant me the grace to live a selfless and a committed life to you now and forever.

Keep yourself pure Exodus 30:11-21

Moses was instucted by God to levy people for the service of the tabernacle. The rich were not to give more, nor the poor to give less. What do we learn from this arrangement? God is no respecter of anybody. When you read from vv. 19-21 you will see what happen to Aaron and his children, they were to wash their hands and feet with water from it. This point emphasizes purity in all their ministration. Only those with pure hearts and clean hands shall stand before God. This teaches us to cleanse oue hands, our sins, and purify our hearts we those who are double minded (James4:8).

Prayer for the Day: Lord Jesus help me to live pure and clean in your sight all the days of my life.

A call to holy living 1Peter 1:14-16

The imminent return of Christ should motiviate us to live for Him. This means being mentally alert (''think clealy''). disciplined (''exercise self-control''). and focused look forward. Are you ready to meet Christ, living as God's obedient child? The God of Israel and the Christian church is holy and He has set a standard for morality. Unlike the gods of other nations, our God is not a warlike, adulterous, or spetful. Unlike the god of pagan cults which was popular in the first century, he is not bloodthirsty. He is a God of mercy and justice who cares personally for each of His followers. Our holy God experts us to imitate him by following His high moral standards and by being merciful and just. Peter's words means that all part of our lives and character should be in the process of becoming conformed both inwardly and outwardly, to God' standards. After people commit their life to Christ they sometimes feel a pull back to their old ways. Peter tell us to be like our Heavenly Father holy in everything we do. Holiness means being tatally devoted or dedicated to God, set aside for His special use and set apart from sin and it's influence. We are to be set apart and be different not blending in with the crowd, and yet not being different for defferent sake. God's quality in our lives makes us defferent. Our focus and priorities must be His, all this things are in direct contrast with our old world. We can not become holy in our own, but God gives us His Holy Spirit to help us obey and to give us power to overcome sin. Don't use the excuse that you can't help slipping into sin. Rather rely on God's power to help you free yourself from the power of sin.

Prayer for the Day: Lord Jesus help me cleanse myself from the corruption of this world in other to be ready for you at anytime you come in Jesus name.

The Gospel

Do you remember how you felt as a child on Christmas Eve? Most of as could not wait for the morning to come when we will eat a good mael and put on new cloths probably to church service. In the church we heard children singing and reciting memory verses as they dramatized the Christmas story. The story of angelic host and of the visit of the shepherds to the manger is perhaps the best known of all stories. The shepherd caring for their sheep, the mother and the father caring for their new born baby, the angelic choir breaking into the darkness of the earth's night to herald the long awiated sunrise of the good news that the Savior had been born. God so much care for that He sent Christ to the dying world to be born in a manger and birth to be announced first to the humble shepherds. That is the Good News that came to change our destiny. Have you allowed Christ to be born into your heart? That is the only way you can boldly say you are celebrating or enjoying Christmas. You have the opportunity to invite Christ into your heart now for He is still standing behind the close door and want you to open Him to in and celebrate with you. The next hour or so may cause you something great do not delay.

Prayer for the Day: Lord Jesus thank you for the life you brought to me and help me stay close to you now and forever in Jesus Name.

Submit yourself to God Luke 1:32-45

God carefully selects the proper, pure and holy womb to give birth to destined  and holy child Jesus. God announced the coming of His Son into the world as a king who will take over the throne of David with other specific assignments just like He did to the coming of John through Zechariah and Elizabeth. Mary's visit to Elizabeth brought a clear conviction of the personality Mary was carrying. Are you worthy to carry the presence of God in your life? Can your life bring joy, peace, comfort, and blessings to the people around you? Submit your life for God's use. For then she spoke out with a loud vioce and said Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb, but why is this granted to me that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For indeed as soon as the voice of your greetings sounded in my ears the babe leaped in my womb for joy. Blessed is the one who believed for there will be fulfillment of those things which were told her from the Lord.

Prayer for the Day: Lord God use me for the purpose which you created me for in Jesus name.

What is your doubt about Jesus? Matthew 11:1-15

John had been put to prison by Herod. Herod had married his own sister in-law and John publicly rebuked Herod's flagrant sin (14:3-5). As John sat in prison, he began to have some doubts about whether Jesus was really the Messiah. If John's purpose was to prepare the people for the coming Messiah(3:3). and if Jesus was reallt that Messiah then why John was in prison when he could have been preaching to the crowds, preparing their hearts. Jesus answered John's doubts by pointing to the acts of healing the blind, lame and deaf, curing the lepers rising the dead and preaching to the poor the good news. With so much evidence, Jesus identity was obvious. If you sometimes doubt your salvation, the forgiveness of your sin or God's work in your life, look at the evidence in the Scripture and the changes in your life, and what is is going on in your life then you can answered for yourself. When you doubt don't turn away from Christ but turn to Him for He is the Savior of humanity. No person ever fulfilled his God given purpose than John. Yet in God's kingdom all believers will have greater spiritual heritage than John becauuse they will have seen and known Christ and His finished work on the cross. There are 3 common views about the meaning of this verse 1. Jesus may have been referring to a vast movement toward God, the momentum that began with John's preaching 2. He may have been reflecting the Jewish activists' expectation that God's kingdom would come through violent overthrow of Rome. 3. Or He may have meant that entering God's kingdom takes courage, unwavering faith, determination and endurance because of the growing opposition leveled at Jesus' followers. in any case Jesus was pointing out that John's ministry had ushered in the kingdom of Heaven. John was not a resurrected Elijah, but he took on Elijah's prophetic role, boldly confronting sin and pointing people to God.

Prayer of the Day: Lord God help me to settle all doubts in my mind about you and increase my faith in Jesus' name.

You are valuable to Christ Matthew 10:28-34

People receive threatening letters sometimes for political, financial, or economic reasons, or for the postion one occupies. Whatever the case Jesus warned His disciples in not to be afraid of such people; why (v. 28)? When you fear God who can destroy both soul and body in hell, you need not to fear man who cannot do you anything. Are you a student who is about to take exam say no to examination malpractice; or you are about to enter University? Take your stand to live for God and run from all evil attactions reigning on campuses today. The word of God today assures you in v. 30 that God who cares for sparrows, cares much more for you. How committed are you to God and His word? Your deep committment to Jesus may cause to lose some friends and even relatives. Will you deny Him or confess Him when the going gets tough? The assurance is that you are of more value than many.

Prayer for the Day: Lord Jesus I pray this day that you will help me run from which that will weaken me in you and empower me to live for you alone.

The Lord will defend You Matthew 10:16-27

Jesus warns His disciples ahead of time to be alert and ready. The tendency is for believers to ba at ease and forget what lies ahead. With what did Jesus liken His disciples (v.16) In order words, believers are to be as gentle as doves but wise as serpants verses 17-18 contains a prediction of the types of persecution that believers may suffer. Make a list of them in your notebook. It is difficult to endure persecution but much more difficult when it comes from one's family member (v.21) Are you facing persecution currently? Then read this verses 22-23. You need to keep your faith; however be wise and listen to God for immediate action. (v.22). Says but in the mixed of all this he who will endure to the end will be save.

Prayer for the Day: Pray for the Lord to help you endure to the end, Lord help me to fight to the end in Jesus name.

Call for special purpose Matthew 10:1-15 Monday 20 December 2010

We can learn this example from Jesus through the way He empowered His disciples; what did He do (v.1). The call of Jesus was without force or coercion. Similary, the call is extended to all today. Will you choose to follow or not to follow? The names of Jesus disciples are listed in verses 2-4, write them out place them somewhere you can easily see and commit them to memory. The call of the apostles is a voluntary  service and the mission is clear: seeking the lost sheep of the house of Israel and what else (v.7). Their task also include: (1) healing the sick, (2) raising the dead, (3) cleansing the lepers, (4) Casting out demons. And He promise us if we shall faithful ly obey His command to preach the gospel, signs and wonders will follw us. What are you doing to bring this promise to pass. You receive without paying so give without pay.

Prayer for the Day: Lord Jesus Help and empower me to be able to proclaim the gospel now and ever more.

Divine Healing Matthew 4:23-25 Saturday 18 December 2010

The redemption  work of Christ is all embracing. For sin it provides forgiviness and for death, it provides eternal life. On earth Jesus preach repentance and healed diverse knids of sickness, diseeases and infirmities among the people. He actually reveals God's will in action, proving that it is in God's will to heal all who are sick and oppressed by the devil. Christ substutionary death is histolic. That is, it is complete and adequate for redeming the whole man, spirit soul and body. We should press on in prayer without tiring in faith so that we can possess the full provision of Christ redemption which includes the healing of the body.

Prayer of the Day: Lord Jesus help me to run away from sin and empower me to be prayerful to enable me remain sound in You.

Christ our Mighty Healer Matthew 8:1-13

Jesus came down from the mountain where He was teaching to be met by a leper (v.1). What was the leper's question and what was Jesus's responce (vv.2-3)? The leper received instant healing (v.3). Jesus is still the same Yesterday Today and Forever to come and healing human curable and incurable diseases. Call on Him in faith and He will answer you. A centurion who was not a Jew brought a request. What was it (v.10)? We all need faith in God to make it to Heaven (vv. 11-13). The centurion's servant received healing, you can also received yours now through faith in Christ and book your place also for eternity (v. 13). Believe in and your shall come to pass for the glory of God.

Prayer for the Day: Lord Jesus help me build my faith in you alone, and healed me from all my worries in Jesus name.

Beware of false teachers Thursday 16 December 2010 Matthew 7:15-29

Jesus teaches believers to recognize false teachers (vv. 15-20). Note those whose words sound godly but are motivated by marterial gain, fame and power. Their teachings are self-centered rather than God-centred. To run away from such people we must, (1) evaluate teachers words by examining their lives (2) be totally committed to the truth and the righteousness revealed in the scripture. You must know that is not all who call on God are serving God sincerely and only those who serve God with a genuine heart will make it to heaven. (vv.21-23) Jesus exposed those people who sounded religious but had no personal relationship with Him. On judgement day only our relationship with Christ our acceptance of Him as our Savior and our obedience to him will matter. Many people think if they are good people and they say religious things, they will be rewarded with eternal life. In reality, faith in Christ is what will count at the judgement.

Prayer for the Day: Help me dear Jesus, to live a honest, genuine and committed live to you all the days of my life.

Who do you trust Jeremiah 10:2-8 Wednesday 15 December 2010

Most people would like to know the future. Decision making would be easier, failures would be avoided, successes would be assured. The people of Judah wanted to know the future and they tried to decern it through reading the signs in the sky. God made the earth and the heavens, including stars that people consult and worship. No one will discover the future in man-made charts of God's stars. But God, who promise to guide us, know your future and will be with you all the way. For he said I will be with you to the end and that is a sure promise. He will not reveal your future to to, but he will walk with you as the future unfold. Don't trust the stars trust the one who made the stars.
Those who put their trust in a chunk of wood, even though it is carved well and looks beautiful, are foolish. The simplest person who worship God is wiser than the wiesest person who worship a worthless substitute because this person has discerned who God really is. In what or whom do you place your trust?

Prayer for the Day: Lord Jesus may you help me to place my trust in you alone now and forever.

The Mercy Of God Pslam 32:1-3 Tuesday 14 December 2010

Oh what a joy for those whose disobedience are forgiven, whose sin are put out of sight! What a joy for those whose record the Lord cleared of guilt whose live are lived in complete honesty.
God wants to forgive sinners. Forgiveness are has always been part of His loving nature. He announced this to Moses in (Exd 34:6-7). He again revealed to David and He dramatically showed it to the world through Jesus Christ. This makes to know how merciful our God is in forgiviness. He forgive the disobedience. (Rom 4:7-8). Tells us we can enjoy the same joyous experience of forgivness through faith in Christ Jesus.

Prayer for the Day: May you pray and accept what He the Lord has done for and thank Him for forgiving you and you entire family.

Do not rash to vow

Monday 13 December 2010 1Samuel 14:24-35
When a leader leads in obedience to God, he avoids a lot of grievious mistake. Saul had to seek other means to gain God's favour because he hurried away from divine instructions (vv.18-19). The Israelites army is a good example of obedient people. What did they do or did not do (v.24-26)? How obedient are to your elders in the church, parents in the house, teaches in the school or at your work place? (Eph 6:1). What happen to Jonathan is a warning to us fathers not to make rash oaths. Jonathan ate not in disobedience. He was not awere of his father's oaths. However, to openly criticize your father like Jonathan did (v.29) is not good example to follow, more importantly because Saul as a leader  had good intention.

Prayer for the day: Lord Jesus may my good intention to serve and please you nerver bring negative impact on your people.

The overcoming of the enemy

Sunday 12 December 2010 1 Samuel 14:15-23
The Philistine army became confused and panicked, why (v.15)? Saul was in hurry and abandoned the divine enquiry so he could take advantage confusion in the Philistine army to attack them. Although God allowed Israel to win the battle, was it by their strength (v.20). The word of God says it's not by mghty neither it's by power, though the enemies were without sword (ch13:22) the enemies killed one another with their own swords. What can we learn from this teaching about God? Are you facing difficulties, and challenges from the enemy camp or the devil? Look on to God the maker of all things who hear and answer the cry of His children and trust in His ability to save those who trust in Him. (1Jn 5:4).

Thought: As the Lord Jesus rescued the Israelites, so shall He rescued you with His mighty hand.

Victory through God

Saturday 11 December 2010 1Samuel 14:1-14
Today's message shows Jonathan had faith in God and himself. What did he do to show this(v.1)? What knowledge of do you think of appplying when you are confused or fell incapable? Jonathan's strategies to attack part of the Philistine army worked out for total victory of Israel (vv.11-15). Do you believe in God who is not hindered from ''saving whether by many or by few'' (v.6)? See Jonathan's determination 8-10 and be encouraged, he did not allow the circumstances or obstacles in vv.4&5 to disturb or discourage him. You may come across difficulties and obstacles on your Christian journey, fixing your eyes, and mind on the goal the heaven will be a great strength for you. Jonathan's amour bearer was a source of encouragement to him (v.7). There we can see unity of purpose and mind.

Prayer of the day: Lord Jesus, help your Church, our family to work in harmony and in understanding as we look forward to your return

God is the source of my help

Friday 10 December 2010   1 Samuel 13:16-23

What a good example to see a son fighting a just course alongside with his father like Jonathan in today's message (v. 16). The rest of story pictures the helpless Israelites in terms of position as well as technological power (vv. 16-18, 22). The helpless and the demoralized Israel had to depend on the Philistines to sharpen their implements. How dependent are you on God as your Father? Imagine an army in the the battle front with no weapon of defence or attack. In such situation do you think there is any hope of victory to such an army? In the face of powerlessness and hopelessness and in confuse state you can turn to God and experience awesome power that you have never imagine by trusting Him with all your heart. In what ways are you feeling frustrated and inadequate? Our God is all powerful and He is the help of the helpless and the hopeless call on Him and He will answered you.

Prayer for the Day: In times of trouble, fear, and hardship dear Father Jesus be my helper and confidence.

Stand out for Jesus

Matthew 5:13-20
Christians are the salt and the light of the world (vv13-15). These mean that they are to preserve the world from corruption, resist moral decay and stay away from work of dardkness. Are you doing this in your home, work place, communitte, your school, and everywhere you are? Whatever you say or do must bring glory to God(v.16) Believers are to fulfil the law(vv.17-19). This will be possible if we allow the Holy Spirit to put to death in us sinful deeds of the body and help us to fulfil God's will (see Rom 8:13). Believers righteousness must not be external only like the that of Scribes and Pharisees (v20). Hearts, souls spirit must be involved in the love and service of God. ((Mt 22:37).
Thought: Lord I ant to be like Jesus in my heart.'
